NB! We are sorry to announce that Ivan Vasiliev informed the festival team at the beginning of June that due to the continuing coronavirus pandemic, he has been forced to change his plans and his ballet troupe will not be able to come to Estonia in August. As a result, Ivan Vasiliev's ballets "The Beginning" and "Amadeus" scheduled for 7 August have been cancelled.
Tickets already purchased for Vasiliev's ballets can be exchanged for another performance at the Birgitta Festival. The exchange may involve a price difference, in which case we will either refund you the extra payment, or if you choose more expensive tickets for the replacement performance, you will incur an additional cost. Alternatively, we can buy back your tickets until 7 August 2021. However, if you do not contact us by then, all tickets will be automatically bought back after 7 August 2021. Please let us know at tagasiost@piletilevi.ee which option you prefer and if you prefer replacement tickets, then to which performance and for how many people so that we can get back to you with the seating options. Ivan Vasiliev is considered to be one of the most acknowledged ballet dancers in Russia who has attracted attention and received most praising criticism for his performance and role interpretation by the largest publications all over the world. Vasiliev has obtained several degrees in choreography and his full-length ballet Love is Everywhere was premiered in 2016. Currently, he works both as a ballet artist and choreographer; among his repertoise there are the main roles in Don Quixote, Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty etc.
Vasiliev’s ballet troupe is mainly formed by the best dancers at the Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow and Mikhailovsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. Two one-act ballets by Vasiliev will be performed in Birgitta festival – The Beginning and Amadeus.
Vasiliev’s ballet The Beginning will give answers to several questions concerning the birth of everything. The new stage production tackles the eternal and profound topic of the emergence of life on our planet. As a choreographer, Vasiliev attempts to find allusions to the mystery of the birth of the life on Earth as well as to convey the diverse themes to the audience.
Ballet Amadeus tells about the grand composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, his many-sided musical skills, extravagant character and unique talent. If you want to interpret Mozart through Vasiliev’s point of view then this ballet is exactly for you.
Together with Vasiliev there is also a young and talented ballet artist Denis Savin who has excelled in several main roles in the Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow right after graduating from the Moscow State Academy of Choreography in 2002. Female soloist Maria Vinogradova is also an acknowledged ballet soloist who has performed main roles both in classical ballets and in those choreographed by Ivan Vasiliev.
