Powerful and dramatic music. Exceptional physical spectacle, where fantasy has no boundaries. It is the poetry of movement and action. And quite literally, for the director and performers the sky (if anything) is the only limit.
In 2017, Birgitta Festival continues its established tradition of bringing to stage an original production of a classical piece that will only be staged twice during the festival. In the past few years the original production have ranged from oratorio staged versions such as Joseph Haydn’s "Creation" in 2015 to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Requiem" in 2016. Birgitta Festival 2017 will delight its audience with Joseph Haydn’s famous oratorio "The Seasons", staged by the same team that was behind the production of Haydn’s "Creation" in 2015.
“Now when creation has given us the world, it is just the time to get to know it better. “The Seasons” is an unprecedented journey, connecting drama and music in a colourful and elating fantasy world where all the powerful natural forces are manifested. This strength and beauty is embodied on the stage by Poznan ballet troupe’s principal dancers through the marvellous symbiosis of classical ballet and top-notch acrobatics. Touching every aspect of human perception, the audience is invited to participate in an extraordinary emotional experience - a journey through the seasons of life. Specially designed for Pirita Convent, this powerful production make this universal story truly powerful and unique!”
