Antonín Dvorák – Terzetto for two violins and viola in C major Op. 74/B 148
Ester Mägi – Duos in folk tone for two violins
Zoltán Kodály – Serenade for two violins and viola Op. 12
A completely unique composition for chamber music – two violins and a viola! In the history of music, very few works have been made for this composition, but Dvorák and Kodály have created wonderful pieces just for such an ensemble. Between the two trios come duos by Ester Mägi, which are perfectly suitable for being performed on two violins. The three composers’ works are characterized by the use of their native lands’ folk music intonations.
